In English translation from Kyrgyz,"Neither on the Mountain, nor in the Field" - Gulzat Egemberdieva's new film was screened at the GoEast - Festival of Central and Eastern European Film, Wiesbaden, Apr 26 – May 2, 2023. The film documents the interchange of experiences and meanings between a group of Pamir Kyrgyz nomads who recently left their Afghan “roof of the world,” a Kyrgyz village inhabitant “neither on the mountain, nor in the plain,” and the filmmaker, finding herself between village, capital city, and the West. The film was awarded a grant from the Canada Council of the Arts.
